My paintings reflect the uncomfortable, unspeakable and often untouchable situations that surround us in society. Be it a starving dog or a raped child, the subjects are so raw that it hurts to paint them.

I hope that through my paintings  I can give voice to the victims, a final 'don't forget me' cry in the dark.

For if even for a moment, while looking at my images, someone feels a connection and compassion to them, I have done my job.

Octavia J Anderson is a self taught artist that was born into a family of artists. Raised in the SF Bay Area, she was surrounded by creative chaos. At the age of nine she realized not every house smelled of turpentine.

Starting with pencil, she has progressed to oils, acrylics and mixed media of whatever she can find on her walks  around the town.

She currently lives in Western MA with her family and dogs.
